Designer – Drum Team Lead
Neversoft
The next major release for the Guitar Hero series. The previous 4 were all derivatives (or “reskins”) of Guitar Hero World Tour. Guitar Hero 5 had a new animation system, and supported multiple players playing with the same instruments.
The workflow for the drum team didn’t change except we began note tracking “Band Moments” where if each player hit every note within a “Band Moment” they’d be rewarded with VFX, lighting, fanfare, and bonus points.
I worked with animators and engineers to rework the interpretation of the drum transcription track so we wouldn’t have to use a secondary track for drummer animations, which ended up working well, but we still tracked them both to stay consistent across the titles. The system looked way better, and we no longer had to rely on animation loops or new/unique/specific motion capture sessions.
- Transcribed and notetracked many songs on drums, and reviewed most songs I didn’t notetrack
- Maintained and managed the drum team (5), delegated, reviewed and scheduled all drum notetracking work
- Drummer Motion Capture performance
- Demo sessions for e3, magazines, private and public press sessions etc.
- More DLC songs to notetrack after game shipped
1 song (3 song medley) on the soundtrack (drum performance, arrangement)
- An Endless Sporadic – From The Blue/Point of No Return/The Triangular Race Through Space
