I either notetracked every song on drums, or reviewed/proofread the songs I didn’t notetrack for consistency, accuracy, and difficulty feel.
The drum team grew from 2 to 5 members, so I was able to delegate and schedule songs as they came in, then review them as they were completed for iterations and fixes
I was the motion capture drum performer on all 21 non metallica songs in the game (any non Lars Ulrich song).
I was also responsible for the idea to incorporate “Expert+” mode which meant “the same as Expert mode, but with double kicks.”
This ended up being a marketing bullet point that became a staple for all future Guitar Hero games with drums.
Activision sold a kick pedal separately with a 1/8th inch Y-cable audio adapter in order to play double kick on songs which was very common for Metallica songs and some of the bonus tracks.
- Involved in drum notetracking and motion capture performance for early prototypes
- Transcribed and notetracked all songs on drums, and reviewed all songs I didn’t notetrack
- Maintained and managed the drum team (5), delegated, reviewed and scheduled all drum notetracking work
- Many private demo sessions for Metallica and public demos for CES, gametrailers, private events etc
