Production Tester
Neversoft
My first job in the games industry focused mostly on playing through the game as quickly as possible every morning and reporting any bug or progression stoppers that would come up.
Walking and vehicles were new big-ticket mechanics that required a lot of attention as they led to lots of game-breaking bugs and exploits.
- Worked in-house with the developers to provide constant feedback
- Wrote up bugs, stress testing, exploits, progression testing, smoke tests, verified bugs, distributed bugs to correct correlating developer
- Tested and iterated while sitting side by side with Level Designers, Mission Designers, and Gameplay Programmers
- Media interviews and public game demos (g4, e3, private in-house demos etc)
- Had my own video capture device i’d purchased that was extremely uncommon at the time, so it was especially helpful for devs to get a video repro without them having to try it themselves
